(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for all southwest Iowa, and the west-central Iowa counties of Guthrie, Audubon, Shelby, and Harrison. The freeze warning is in effect from 11:00 p.m. tonight to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The forecast calls for sub-freezing temperatures of 27 to 31 degrees, causing frost and freezing conditions, killing crops and other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damaging unprotected outdoor plumbing. The cold snap will likely bring an end to the growing season for the region.
