(Urbandale) An Urbandale High School student is in serious trouble after a school resource officer found a loaded gun in their backpack. District officials say the weapon was found yesterday after two students were sent to the administrator’s office for reportedly vaping.
According to school officials, one student’s behavior escalated in the administrator’s office and notified the school resource officer. The SRO and a School Administrator searched the students and found a handgun in one of the student’s backpacks. School officials say the student left the building with law enforcement, and the district will take the appropriate disciplinary actions.
School Officials do not believe the student with the gun made any threats toward anyone, students, or staff at the high school.
