(Washington D.C.,) Iowa Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks is receiving death threats after she changed her vote for House Speaker yesterday. She initially voted for Representative Jim Jordan but changed her vote to Representative Kay Granger in the second round.
Meeks says the change was because she found it abundantly clear Jordan didn’t have enough votes for a nomination, so she voted for Committee Chairwoman Kay Granger to serve as the Speaker of the House. She stated her vote for Granger is based on her outstanding leadership this past year and bringing forth and passing fiscally responsible, single-subject appropriations bills, and she is a staunch Republican.
In her written statement, Miller-Meeks says, “One thing I cannot stomach or support is a bully.”
