(Des Moines) The fate of defendant Bravon Tukes is now in the hands of a jury. Final arguments were heard yesterday in a Polk County Courtroom.
Tukes is accused of being the getaway driver in the shooting deaths of two students, Rashad Carr and Gionni Dameron, at the Starts Right Here alternative school in Des Moines in January. Tukes is being tried for multiple charges, including two counts of First-Degree Murder.
The two students were killed in the January 23 attack, while the program’s founder suffered serious injuries.
Preston Walls, a 19-year-old Starts Right Here student, was convicted of second-degree murder and manslaughter at his trial in September.
