(Anita) CAM continues to dominate through the first six weeks of the season. The Cougars are 6-0 and have outscored the opposition on average 60-10, heading into a week seven matchup with district foe Fremont-Mills. The Knights are 3-3 and 3-1 in district play.
CAM Head Coach Barry Bower says they continue improving their craft week in and week out.
Coach Bower Fremont-Mills is a physical team. The Knights are coming off a loss to Exira-EHK last week, 28-22. The Knights are run heavy with 1,315 yards on the ground, led by Braxton Blackburn’s 812 yards and 8.9 yards a carry average.
CAM brings a balanced offense to the table. Chase Spieker has completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 793 yards and 14 touchdowns. Spieker also leads a running game with 463 of the teams’ 1287 rushing yards, a credit to the guys in the trenches for CAM.
Defensively, Owen Hoover leads the squad in tackles with 28.5, Brayden Chester with 26.5, Austin Williams with 25.5, Keegan Croghan with 22, and Jack Follman with 20.
Dylan Linkenhoker is the leading tackler for the Knights with 36, Braxton Blackburn 35.5, Cooper Marvel 32.5, and JW. Linkenhoker with 27.5.
Regarding turnovers, Fremont-Mills has recovered four fumbles and picked off four passes. CAM has six fumble recoveries and an impressive 14 interceptions, led by Ryan Bower with five.
The kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Anita.
