(Atlantic) Atlantic Head Football Coach Joe Brummer says tackling in space is one of the main emphases for his team this week. The Trojans host Perry in a Class 3A District 6 football game this week. The Trojans are 2-4 and 1-1 in league play. In the district, the Bluejays are (0-2) and 1-5 in all games.
Coach Brummer says Perry is led offensively by junior quarterback Geren Kinney, who has thrown for 644 yards, six for touchdowns.
Kinney also leads the team in rushing and gives the ball to Keegan Snyder, who has 237 yards on 51 carries and two touchdowns. Coach Brummer says slot back Alix Coles also gets his touches on Jet Sweeps.
The Trojans are coming off a loss to topped-ranked Creston last week. Atlantic battled the Panthers early, but several turnovers and big plays allowed the visitors to pull away.
Coach Brummer says it will take a fundamentally sound game and accurate alignments to come away with the correct result on Friday night. He says offensively they must establish the run to set up the pass. The injury bug hit the camp the last couple of weeks. Coach Brummer is optimistic that some of the injured will be healed enough to play on Friday.
