(Guthrie Center) On Tuesday morning, the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors approved an additional jailer to the staff. The Board also approved a $1.20 increase for all jailers on the team.
Jail Administrator Jesse Swensen requested a $2.00 per hour raise for the Jailers from $21.80 to $23.80. Noting a timing issue for giving raises, the supervisors settled for a $1.20 increase, from $21.80 to $23.00.Swensen says since the start of the Fiscal Year, on July 1, the jail has generated $45,000 in revenue and is on track to make about $300,000. Swensen says he wants to raise the employees to reward them for their hard work.
Swensen says they are also considering adding bunks in the smaller four-person cells.
The new facility opened up the past summer. The 14,000-square-foot addition provides improved inmate capacity to address classification and segregation requirements.
