(Hancock) Firefighters were called to a train engine fire near Hancock shortly before midnight. Hancock Fire Chief Josh Billings says the call went out at around 11:53 p.m. on Sunday.
Chief Billings says Oakland and Avoca Fire Departments were called for mutual aid.
Billings says the fire was contained to the exhaust compartment of the train. He says soot and dust may have caused the fire within the compartment. A maintenance crew arrived at the scene to evaluate the engine’s condition.
