(Audubon, IA) – The Audubon Wheelers flipped the script last week against Coon Rapids-Bayard in a low-scoring game. The Wheelers beat the Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders 22-16 and are looking to adapt and improvise in week six.
Evan Alt rushed for 182 yards and had two touchdowns in the last competition against Coon Rapids-Bayard. The blocking coverage helped in Alt’s performance, but Coach Sean Birks wants to see his team block better in the coming weeks. This improvement will not only help in the rushing and passing game, but also on fourth down conversions for the Wheelers.
Audubon held the Crusaders to just 16 points, the least for a team against Audubon this season. Ely Jorgensen, Gabe Jensen, and Colton Hansen were all essential at being disruptive on the defensive side. Jensen led in tackles with five while adding two sacks for the Wheelers. Jorgensen had 3.5 tackles while Hansen earned 2.5 tackles on the night. Coach Birks wants their effort and defensive disruption to continue in the district matchup against Glidden-Ralston.
Glidden-Ralston is 4-1 on the season and has won three straight games, as they are one of the best teams that Audubon will face off this season after their initial home opener against CAM. Their offense revolves around Colby Wallace as he went 4-7 for 71 yards and one interception, but rushed for 171 yards and four touchdowns. The Wheelers will have to put the pressure on the lines to keep the Wildcats in their cage.
Audubon hosts Glidden-Ralston in a district matchup for their homecoming game with a kickoff at 7:00 p.m. under the lights.
