(Des Moines) An Iowa review panel recommends cutting or reforming nearly half of the state’s boards and committees. Under the proposal, 111 of Iowa’s 256 boards and commissions would be cut or consolidated–that’s fewer than the panel proposed last month. The Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service and the Commission for the Deaf are no longer part of the cuts. The panel also suggests removing gender requirements for boards and commissions. The state legislature must approve the measure before any changes take effect.
