(Atlantic) The Atlantic Middle School and High School implemented an electronic hall pass this school year.
Andy Mitchell, Assistant High School Principal, told the School Board Wednesday evening that they were noticing a lot of issues in the hallways and bathrooms, especially during class time. He said High School Principal Heather McKay had heard that Glenwood High School was using this system, so last spring Heather McKay, along with a couple of students and adults, visited Glenwood to see how it works and they thought it was amazing.
Mitchell said a student can only ask for two passes a day, but exceptions can be made under certain circumstances.
Mitchell said this also creates a log of how often a student is leaving certain classes.
Mitchell said there are some small quirks that need to be worked out with the system, but otherwise it has been a great tool.
