(Anita, IA) – On this week’s Upcoming Podcast, we talked to Hannah Nelson, a multisport senior at Exira-EHK. Nelson plays volleyball, basketball, and softball and has impressed in every sport. In volleyball, she had 27 digs in 17 matches played last season. Basketball was more dominant as she had 4.2 points per game and pulled down 88 rebounds. The Spartans just finished up their softball season a month ago, where Nelson batted .373 while earning second on the team in RBIs with 27 and in total bases with 42.
Exira-EHK has been prepping for the season just as every team in the Rolling Valley Conference. Hannah has been enjoying practices with her team so far.
Nelson said that the Spartans have been working on their transitions for the season to improve on their offensive side. They have also been looking to run quicker sets this season to improve their front row and boost their offense to make them quicker than last season.
With this volleyball season, Exira-EHK is only returning two seniors which include Hannah Nelson and Gemini Goodwin. The Spartans graduated four seniors from last season and are looking to the younger girls to step it up on the varsity floor. Nelson and Goodwin are being put into a position to help develop the future of the Spartans and so far, Nelson is enjoying the opportunity not just in volleyball, but in other sports this season.
Hannah is not only a part of three different Spartan teams, but she also works for the Elk Horn City Clerk and even helps at the library and the pool. To be trusted with these positions shows that Nelson has the capabilities of a leader and a great teammate on the court.
Nelson and Exira-EHK are taking on Griswold tomorrow at Griswold High School. You can check out the latest episode of the Upcoming Podcast by clicking here.
