(Red Oak, IA) – The Tigers are ready to pounce on the Timberwolves in week one. Red Oak will look quite different when compared to last season as the Tigers graduated 15 seniors. This squad is ready to build off of that senior leadership this season and take it to the field.
Red Oak is bringing up a lot of players on the offensive end this season while returning multiple players in the backfield. Adam Baier and Nolan Perrien return to the Tigers this year. Baier had 84 total tackles and was the primary kick returner with 241 yards. Coach Nordeen is relying on their defense this season while waiting for the offense to develop over time.
Swagger is the name of the game for Red Oak coming into Friday night as they know their intensity will match up against the Timberwolves. Red Oak rushed for over 2,000 yards as a team last season while throwing for over 1,000 yards offensively. The defense had 14.5 sacks and 11 interceptions, which are impressive numbers to mention for the Tigers. This season, the defense will look very similar as the offense will be entirely new. Both Red Oak and Southwest Valley have a lot to prove in week one.
Coach Nordeen has taken all week to look in-depth at Southwest Valley. One player in particular that he is focusing on is Evan Timmerman as the senior is very versatile on his feet as he rushed for over triple the amount of yards that he threw last year. Red Oak is looking to stop him and keep him in the backfield and limit the errors on both the offense and defense.
Red Oak will travel to Southwest Valley to battle against the Timberwolves at 7:00 pm.
