(Clarinda) The Clarinda School Board terminated Head Football Coach Collin Bevins’ contract after a closed session on Wednesday night. Clarinda Superintendent Jeff Privia released the following statement to KSOM/KS95 News on Thursday morning.
“We are aware of the recent criminal charges against Mr. Bevins. He was put on administrative leave from his employment with the District, pending further action by Board policy. After a closed meeting discussion, Mr. Bevins’ contract with the district was terminated. The district is moving forward with Co-Head coaches Mr. Roger Williams (defensive Coordinator) and Mr. Conner Hanafan (offensive coordinator). The district will open up the head coaching position this spring.”
The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bevins in the early hours of July 30 at the River Ruckus Music Concert in Guthrie Center.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Officer arrest report, security guards at the concert attempted to escort 29-year-old Collin Bevins out of the area in the early morning hours on July 30 for trying to fight with other males inside the grounds. When security guards asked Bevins to leave, he refused and was arrested for public intoxication. During a post-arrest search, deputies found a THC Vape pen that had an odor of marijuana.
Bevins faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 18, and arraignment on September 8.
