(Area) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources would like to help young anglers commemorate the first fish they catch.
Bryan Hayes is a Fisheries Biologist with the Iowa DNR…
The species, size of the fish or age of the angler does not matter, only that it be the first fish they the angler has successfully landed. Visit iowadnr.gov to download the first fish entry form.
The Iowa DNR also recognizes anyone who catches large fish with the Master Angler Award.
Those entries can be made on the Iowa DNR website. There are different levels of Master Angler Awards – Species Specialist, Master Angler, Silver Master Angler and Gold Master Angler. Hayes said the DNR also has an online database where you can see people with their Master Angler fish and search the page to find where some of those fish are coming from.
