(Griswold, IA) – Friday night football is coming quicker than we know it and Griswold’s head coach Seth Lembke is anticipating a new season and a fresh start. Griswold is looking to get back to their winning ways and break down both the offense and defense for the Tigers to go back to small ball to get better over time.
Griswold has not seen success in their recent seasons on the field. The Tigers have not won a game since 2021, and are looking to take the program in a new direction. With a new coach at the helm of Seth Lembke and a new coaching style, it seems like this season will not be like any previous season. The team is improving in workouts, player workout attendance is going up, and they are looking to be placed in a better position in a few weeks.
The leading rusher for the Tigers last season was Zane Johnson as he rushed for 369 yards with 95 carries and three touchdowns. Coach Lembke is looking for the same outlook this season from Johnson as he was a primary rusher for the Tigers and one of their momentum carriers on the offensive end. Continuing on the offensive side, the Tigers saw some success from sophomore quarterback Bode Wyman as he passed for 400 yards and averaged 13.3 yards per completion. Peyton Cook was a player who was more than versatile last season, playing successfully on the offensive and defensive ends. Cook passed for 154 yards last year and even made 23 solo tackles for the Tigers. Griswold has a long list of players that coach Lembke is eyeing to see how they step up this season.
These next few weeks are more than important for the Tigers as they are going to be working on repetitions to get them ready for Friday night action.
Griswold will start their regular season on August 25th at Boyer Valley at 7:00 pm.
