(NASS) According to the USDA’s latest weekly Crop Progress report released Monday, the U.S. corn crop condition rating fell this week. The nation’s soybean condition declined from last week’s extreme heat.
According to the report, 55 percent of the nation’s corn crop is rated good-to-excellent, down two percentage points from last week and five percentage points lower than last year at this time. Of the central corn-producing states, Ohio’s crop is rated 69 percent good-to-excellent, Indiana’s 63 percent, Iowa’s corn condition rating is at 59 percent, Nebraska’s 57 percent, Illinois’ 49 percent, Minnesota’s 47 percent, and Missouri is at 25 percent good-to-excellent.
The nation’s soybean crop is rated 55 percent good to excellent. Indiana is 65 percent good-to-excellent; Ohio, 63 percent; Iowa, 55 percent; Nebraska, 54 percent; Minnesota, 48 percent; Illinois, 46 percent; and Missouri, 28 percent good-to-excellent.
According to the report, 84% of corn was silking, and 50% of the soybean crop was setting pods.
