(Red Oak) One person suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Red Oak.
Red Oak Police say the accident happened at 7:23 p.m. on Saturday at North 6th and Joy Street. The driver of a Dodge Ram pickup, identified as 23-year-old Brandi Sands of Red Oak, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
According to the Police report, 20-year-old Lucas Joseph Dean Mutschler of Red Oak drove a 2014 Nissan westbound on E. Joy Street. Mutschler admitted he was going “too fast” and did not see a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Sands. The Nissan struck the rear tire of the pickup, causing it to spin around and hit a light pole. The pickup came to rest in the middle of the street. Red Oak Rescue transported Sands to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
Police cited Mutschler for Failing to Yield upon entering an intersection.
The Nissan received an estimated $12,000 in damage. The Dodge Ram pickup sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage. The damage to the light pole owned by Mid-American Energy is estimated at $300.00.
The Red Oak Fire Department, Red Oak Rescue, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Montgomery County Dispatch assisted the Red Oak Police Department.
