(Council Bluffs, IA) — The Omaha and Council Bluffs police officers who shot and killed a murder suspect following a high-speed chase are not going to face charges. Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber announced yesterday that an investigation showed that the officers were fully justified in using deadly force against 41-year-old Matthew Briggs on July 8th. Briggs allegedly murdered 52-year-old Steven Donsbach at a home on Essex Drive near Regency Park before leading police on a chase into Council Bluffs where he was shot and killed after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers.
