(Iowa City, IA) – Hawkeye, Caitlin Clark, has been named the Division-I Academic All America® Team Member of the Year for all sports. Clark puts that award on her mantle, alongside many others including the 2023 Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year, the Honda Sport Award, 2023 Naismith, Wooden, and Wade Trophies, USBWA Ann Dysdale Player of the Year Honors, Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year, and ESPY’s Best College Athlete in Women’s Sports.
Clark said in a statement, “I’m honored to have been selected for this award because there’s a ton of excellent student-athletes across the United States, my academic craft is something that I take very seriously while playing basketball at the highest level.” Clark has excelled in the classroom earning the First Team Academic All-American and was also named to the 2023 CSC Academic All-America of the Year for women’s basketball.
Among the many accomplishments, Clark has also posted numbers unlike any other. She is the first player in D-I basketball to record more than 1,000 points and 300 assists in the same season. Alongside that feat, she also posted the first 40-point triple-double in NCAA Tourney history in both men’s and women’s action while adding on that she was the only player in the nation to record 1,000 points, 240 rebounds, and 310 assists.
