(Indianola, IA) – Simpson Athletics receives two Diversity Grants to support new coaching positions to commit further to their diversity and inclusion initiatives. The small private college is looking to increase the diversity of its student-athletes competing in Storm athletics.
One grant is an NCAA Division-III Coaching Enhancement Grant that is used to provide two years of funding for Ashlan Burton. She serves as the Assistant Women’s and Men’s Track and Field Coach at the university. Burton formally was an NCAA Division-II All-American at Central Missouri.
The other grant is the NCAA Division-III Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant to fund entry-level athletics administrative positions for up to two years. Simpson hired Ryleigh Collum with this grant to serve as the coordinator for Internal Operations for Simpson Athletics. Collum recently graduated from the University of Iowa serving many roles, particularly as the Cross Country and Track & Field manager.
These grants will help not only diversify Simpson College but help bring a boost to diversify the athletics coaching and administrative staff.
