(Griswold) The Tigers (24-3) take on the Wolverines (7-13) in softball action tonight as they match up at Griswold High School at 7 pm. This will be the fourth matchup between the two teams as Griswold has won all three games during the regular season.
The first matchup between Griswold and East Mills was a Tiger win in the first game of the regular season winning 23-0. In the second game, the Tigers captured another win earning another shutout game 13-0. On June 9th in the third contest, East Mills was able to earn five runs in the game, but the Tigers were able to knock in 14 to win 14-5.
Looking deeper into the last game, leading East Mills was Kandra Laumann who went 2-3 in the game with a single and a double knocking in a run. Aspen Crouse also went 2-3 in the game with two singles and one RBI. Miah Urban pitched for the Wolverines giving up four hits and four earned runs in the competition with three strikeouts.
Moving to the Tigers, leading the team overall in the last game against East Mills was Makenna Askeland who went 2-4 with a single and a double knocking in a run in the ballgame. Right beside her in the lineup was Karly Millikan who went 2-5 in the game with a single and a double in the contest and earned two RBIs in the game. Dakota Reynolds and McKenna Wiechman both went 1-2 in the ballgame at the plate with two singles each in the win over the Wolverines.
Pitching for Griswold in the last matchup was Dakota Reynolds who pitched in all seven innings of action, giving up seven hits and five earned runs with six strikeouts on the night. She is the second pitcher overall this season going 4-0 in her four starts on the season.
Karly Millikan will likely have the start for the Tigers in the matchup as she is 20-3 on the season with a 0.56 ERA with 224 strikeouts on the season. Millikan has pitched in 136.2 innings this season and has given up 80 hits on only 11 earned runs in 23 games of action. For the Wolverines, we will likely see Miah Urban who has appeared in 14 games this season going 4-2 overall with a 8.00 ERA giving up 66 hits on 84 earned runs.
The winner of this matchup tonight will play the winner of Fremont Mills and Essex and will play at Griswold High School in the Regional Semi-Final matchup on Friday, July 7th at 7 pm.
