Jimmie L. Wolfe, also known as Wolfie, 75, of Atlantic, passed away June 28, 2023, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA. Jimmie was born to Lloyd “Sheeney” and Elsie Wolfe of Exira, IA.
He grew up in the Exira area before joining the Army. Jim served as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War. He received a Bronze Star. He worked various jobs after returning home until he began to work for Henningsen Construction. Jim was a concrete foreman for numerous years before working for Cass County. He worked in the secondary roads department. Jim wasn’t one to sit idle; he did various side jobs alongside his day job, including concrete, snow removal, and mowing.
Jim enjoyed his family and extended family. He tried to make it to any of their events when time allowed because of his busy work schedule. Everyone knew he had his hard side, but many also knew his soft side. He was deemed an Iron covered Marshmallow, and it stuck. He was always a man of few words, but those words were usually pretty much to the point. It didn’t matter who he came in contact with. He was never without a smartass comment for them. Jim was a regular out at Ed’s Lawn Equipment for daily quarter flipping and “coffee” time which usually consisted of pop, not coffee. He enjoyed just talking to the guys at breakfast at HyVee. Jim enjoyed spending much time at the dog park with his dog Rambo. His favorite pastime was ensuring the town was all in order and that nobody was breaking town rules. He always watched wrestling or westerns on tv and couldn’t let a pay-per-view go unwatched. Another addiction that Jim had was eating lunch while watching The Young and The Restless. Snack time was always a priority as well. So many quirks that the family will always cherish.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Wolfe; Daughters- Tonya Berkland; husband Ryan, Margo Wolfe, Jessica Flinn, and boyfriend Eric; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by parents-Sheeny and Elsie Wolfe, father-in-law August Lindt, Brothers-Dick Wolfe and wife Joyce, Tim Wolfe and wife Jean, and two brothers in infancy. Per Jimmie’s wishes, his remains are being cremated, and a celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm at The Venue in Atlantic, IA. Memorials will be donated to Atlantic Dog Park and the Atlantic Fire Department.
