(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors this morning approved a zoning classification for Russell Lange from General Agricultural to Light Industrial District for real estate in Brighton Township. The approval followed a public hearing.
Russell Lange is moving RT Motors to his family farm.
Lange said only the homestead will be rezoned which amounts to about an acre or less.
The Supervisors also approved vacating a portion of Pella Road in Union Township following a public hearing. This portion is a dirt road and the landowner on both sides of the road would like it vacated so he can farm the land.
County Engineer Trent Wolken said this will take the road out of their system so they don’t have to maintain it anymore. The only question brought up was regarding the power line and the utility company’s easement. Wolken said that is now between the owner and the power company to work out.
In other action, the Supervisors approved the FY2024 Collective Bargaining Agreement Addendum with Sheriff’s Deputies; the 2024 Employee Group Agreement with Secondary Roads; the Jail Administrator position and salary for FY2024 which will stay the same as it has been in the past; the hiring of LaJean Fajen as a jailer at $21.94 per hour; the reappointment of Terry Duggan to the Veterans Affairs Commission for a three year term; and the appointment of Dawn Walton to fill out the rest of Roger Barbero’s term on the Veterans Affairs Commission through June 30, 2025.
