(Des Moines) The State of Iowa is ending its 153rd straight week of at least a D1 category drought in some parts of the state. This breaks the old record set back in 2012.
State Climatologist Justin Glisan says this week’s map shows nearly 99 percent of Iowa in drought or near-drought conditions.
Glisan says the good news is as of Thursday; we are in an El Nino advisory.
The only small area in the state drought-free is two counties in the state’s far northeast corner.
