(Atlantic) Cass County Recorder Mary Ward announced today the implementation of a new system to combat property and mortgage fraud. The 24/7 service is called Cott Systems’ PropertyCheck, a renewed effort to combat property and mortgage fraud.
Ward says the service allows residents to sign up on the Recorder’s Office website: casscountyia.gov/county-departments/recorders-office/ to receive notifications when official documents are recorded on their property. Residents can activate alerts based on their names. There is no cost to participate. Ward encourages property owners to use multiple ways to sign their names.
