(Des Moines, IA) — There’s a big demand for Iowa’s new Educational Savings Accounts. The accounts are to help pay for a private school education. The Iowa Department of Education opened up applications yesterday. Governor Kim Reynolds says Iowans have already applied for a third of the available accounts. Parents have until June 30th to apply. Applicants will have to prove residency and verify household income. Those approved will have to use funds for tuition first, then use the rest for additional expenses. The new E-S-A accounts were approved in this year’s legislative session.
