(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved an annual funding request in the amount of $3,000 from Avoca Main Street Director Amber Mohr.
Mohr said Avoca is designated as one of 57 Main Street Districts in the State of Iowa.
Mohr noted that her courthouse office space is an in-kind donation from the Courthouse Committee and City Hall pays for her cellphone. She said a lot of the monthly expenses are really supported by the downtown nonprofits and the City, which is extremely helpful.
Mohr also mentioned that they are ready to do some streetscape amendments and updates from their original streetscape plan.
Mohr said she also plans to work with the City to write a grant request for the Avoca Veterans Community Center to renovate the Legion Hall. She said it needs ADA updates and renewed use from the public.
