(Ames) The 1960s-era clover-leaf West Mixmaster interchange in Des Moines is going away, where Interstates 80, 35, and 235 meet. The Iowa Department of Transportation says there’s too much traffic on it these days — around 100-thousand vehicles a day. Crews will start working on a replacement flyover in 2027 after construction ends on the northeast mix flyover.
