(Griswold) It’s another young group for the Griswold Tiger baseball team this summer. They’ll begin the season at home Tuesday against Audubon.
Coach Ryan Lockwood’s team has only one senior and no juniors. However, several of the freshmen and sophomores are entering either their 2nd or 3rd season in the varsity lineup. “Growth is our biggest expectation. I see the potential of improving in the win column with the experience that we received last year.”
Cash Turner is the lone senior. He hit .323 last season for a team that won two games. He’ll be surrounded by couple of emerging sophomores. “Zane Johnson and Bode Wyman have both seen varsity playing time for the last two years. They’ve really solidified defensively the left side of our infield.”
Coach Lockwood recalls seeing improvement from his team on the mound last year. Their defense also got better. “Our pitching got a lot more consistent. We were walking less guys. Our defense got cleaned up later in the season.”
