(Atlantic) Atlantic Parks and Recreation Director Wyatt Adderton provided updates on the Sunnyside Pool projects and Lifeguard Recruitment to the Park Board Monday evening.
Adderton said they are going to remove the current slide at Sunnyside Pool.
Meanwhile, the process for ordering a new slide for the pool is taking longer than expected due to issues with the permit.
Adderton said once everything is approved, they will place the order and it should arrive before the season is over.
As far as lifeguard recruitment, Adderton said there has been a lot of headway in the past several days and with a couple of lifeguards they are hoping to share with the YMCA, they have nine that have committed and four of those individuals need to have a certification. The Y is holding a certification class May 30th through June 2nd.
However, Adderton noted that with the amount of people that need certification they probably are not going to be able to open Sunnyside Pool on Memorial Day weekend, it will probably be the week following just so they have enough staff to comfortably run the facility.
Adderton also mentioned that Vermeer donated five trees and they have been planted at Sunnyside Park. As we mentioned before, Rolling Hills Bank donated $2,000 for 26 fruit trees. Adderton said over 50 trees have been planted in the City parks since February.
