(Des Moines, IA) — Flags are at half-staff in Iowa today for the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony. Two fallen officers will be honored at the ceremony: Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin “Melvin” Richardson and Coralville Police Sergeant Karl Williams. Richardson died in a traffic crash with a combine in June 2022 and Williams died from a medical emergency while on duty last July.
