(Red Oak) Firefighters responded to a garage fire at 308 E Valley Street in Red Oak Thursday evening.
The structure fire was reported at 9:44 p.m. with the Red Oak Police Department arriving a short time later reporting the garage was fully engulfed. The fire engine arrived at 9:48 p.m., reporting the back garage exterior wall was fully engulfed with a grill on fire as well. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and all fire ground operations were terminated at 10:30 p.m. There were no injuries.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce said the neighbor at 306 E Valley had started his grill, which was located directly behind the garage at 308 E. Valley. The grill caught fire, extending to the exterior rear portion of the garage located at 308 E Valley. The west (rear) wall of the garage was completely destroyed and some interior items were damaged. The amount is unknown at this time. The tenants of 308 E Valley, as well as the property owner are currently collecting a list of damaged items.
The Red Oak Fire Department was assisted by the Stanton and Elliott Fire Department, Red Oak Police, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Communications Center.
