(Elk Horn) The Tivoli Fest Committee in Elk Horn is excited about the Grand Marshal that they have a lined up for their parade.
Stan Jens is the committee chairman for Tivoli Fest which takes place on Memorial Day weekend. “Every year we are looking for a Grand Marshall. Someone that has done something for the town or helped put the town on the map. This year with all of the things going on with Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball we thought what a great year to honor Jan and all of her accomplishments.”
Jensen is the top assistant coach on the bench for the national runner-up Iowa women’s basketball program. “She also this year was inducted into the Assistant Coach Hall of Fame and was the NCAA Assistant Coach of the Year.”
The 1987 Elk Horn-Kimballton graduate once scored 105 points in a single game and led the nation in scoring. “If you saw the Facebook post you could see how excited everybody was.” Jens says, “I can’t believe how many people have shared it. We are really hoping for a good turnout for the parade not just for Elk Horn, but for Jan. She’s been a staple of our community for a long time.”
The parade is at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27th.
