(Harlan) The Hawkeye Ten Conference Co-Ed Track Meet will be held Thursday in Red Oak.
The Harlan boys look to continue to build on the success they’ve had this year. Cyclone coach Sam Brummer says, “We want to keep going and competing. That’s the biggest thing. The Hawkeye Ten is a meet every school circles and wants their best showing.” Brummer says, “Definitely have had a really good season with a lot of positives and we’ll look to continue that moving forward.”
Harlan had preseason expectations of being strong in the sprint events and that has panned out. The big plus in that category is the depth they have. “We’ve been able to do it with a lot of different kids and that’s probably one of the more impressive feats we’ve had this year.” Brummer says, “It hasn’t just been four guys running the same events week after week.”
Brummer is hoping their deep core of sprinters will allow them to excel in the three biggest meets of the year that are directly ahead of them on the schedule.
Will Neuharth has broken the 200 meter dash school record in the 200, Cade Sears has been a huge addition, Aidan Hall continues to be a force when healthy, while Jacob Birch, Matthew Sorfonden, Lukas Francis, and Brehden Eggerss are all playing big roles.
Neuharth ranks 4th in the state in the 100 with a season best of 10.82 and 3rd in the 200 at 21.83. The Cyclones have the 2nd best times in Class 3A in the 4X100 and Sprint Medley along with the 3rd best mark in the 4X200.
