(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board approved Non-Union contracts, Building Principal contracts, and agreed on a tentative agreement for the Master Contract for the Atlantic Education Association.
The Non-Union hourly employees will receive a 5.91-percent salary increase which includes the central office employees, technology coordinator, and grounds staff. In addition, a 4-percent salary increase for all Directors except for the Food Service Director. Because the initial hire was on an interim basis, resulting in a lower-than-average stipend. The “Interim” title has been removed from the title, resulting in a $10,000 salary increase, and bringing the pay comparable to the other district director positions. The increase will be paid from the nutrition fund and will not impact the General Fund.
The building Principals received a 4-percent salary increase for the 2023-2024 contract.
Additionally, Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber summarized the tentative agreement for the Master Contract for the Atlantic Education Association effective July 1, 2023.
The following modifications were agreed upon for supplemental positions.
*Add Girl’s Wrestling Chaperone at 6.44-percent
*Add Head Middle School 8th Grade Softball Coach at 5.36-percent
*Add Head Middle School 7th Grade Softball Coach at 5.36-percent
*Modify FFA Advisor to 15.3-percent
*Add Activity Club Sponsor (Archery) at 13.95-percent
*Add Assistant Archery Club Sponsor at 8.58-percent
*Modify Vocal Music to Vocal Music, High School at 13.95-percent
*Add Musical Head Director at 4.83-percent
*Add sets (AHS) at 4 percent
*Add Musical Pit Director at 2.5-percent
*Delete ticket manager
*Delete vocal music assistant
The School Board also approved the resignation of Mikade Thompson, (High School Night Custodian).
The following Contracts were approved:
*Summer Food Service: Lori Namanny, Melissa Balch, and Tina Franken.
*Deborah Hensel, Special Education Bus Monitor
*Kerry Jepsen, Paraeducator, Summer School Vocational Rehab.
*Ashley Gacke, 5th Grade Science Teacher
In other business; the School Board will meet on Friday afternoon, (April 29), to begin the process of hiring an Interim Superintendent. The board will go over the applications and set up an interview schedule for next week.
