(Des Moines) Iowa could be in for a cooler-than-normal start to May. The National Weather Service says the monthly outlook predicts below-normal monthly temperatures. The average temperature in late April and early-May trends in the mid-to-upper 60s. This week’s projected highs are in the high 50s and low 60s, and it should stay that way for a mild end to the month. NWS also expects a few chances for rain and thunderstorms in Iowa this week, although severe storms are not expected.
