(Sac County) One person died, and another was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Sac County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Sunday at Perkins Avenue and 350th Street. Oliver Massman, of Holmen, Wisconsin, was killed in the crash. Ean Marker, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, suffered serious injuries.
According to the report, Massman drove a 2014 Volkswagen Passat south on Perkins Avenue and 350th Street. For unknown reasons, the Passat left the road, entered the west ditch, went up an embankment, struck a Power Pole, vaulted, struck a tree, overturned, and landed in a pond with the front end submerged in water.
Rescue transported the passenger Ean Marker to the Loring Hospital in Sac City and Mercy Hospital in Sioux City. Sac County EMS transported Massman’s body to the State Medical Examiner.
The Iowa State Patrol says speed and alcohol are suspected in the crash.
