(Council Bluffs) The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa says a Council Bluffs man was sentenced Tuesday to 48 months in prison following his plea of guilty to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
On February 27, 2022, 38-year-old Jake Campbell was stopped driving a vehicle that was reported stolen. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded Smith and Wesson firearm under the driver’s seat, along with other items belonging to Campbell. The firearm was reported stolen. Campbell was prohibited from possessing a firearm because he had a prior felony conviction, and he was a methamphetamine user.
Campbell must serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
