(Shenandoah) Maryville won the team title, Glenwood finished second, and Atlantic finished third at the Mustang Invitational Boy’s Golf tournament on Tuesday in Shenandoah. Maryville shot 318, Glenwood 327, and Atlantic scored 333.
Tristan Hayes finished third overall for the Trojans with a 76, and freshman Hudson McLaren carded an 83 for 12TH. Sam Brosam scored 86, Roth Den Beste, 88, Cruz Weaver, 92, and Tate Niklasen carded a 96.
“This was our first 18-hole tournament of the year,” said Atlantic Head Coach Ed Den Beste. “We had three golfers that were new to the course. We knew that we needed a good score to win today.
“It was good to see Tristan play well,” said Den Beste. “He started with several bogeys but finally got some pars and a birdie. Hudson started with a few bogeys but finally put sank a few pars. Sam Brosam got a few pars, and Roth had a good back nine but struggled on the first hole; otherwise, it would have been a good score. Cruz also had some tough holes, and he knew he could lower his score. Tate also had some tough holes but worked hard to come in as low as possible.
Atlantic heads to Fox Run for another tournament on Thursday.
