(Harlan) The Harlan City Council, during a special meeting this afternoon, approved amending the effective date of the 28E Agreement with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Harlan City Administrator Gene Gettys explained the need to change the effective date to Saturday, April 15th.
Gettys said everything else in the transition is going quite well.
The Shelby County Board of Supervisors will take action on the change in the effective date at Tuesday’s meeting.
In March, the City approved a 28E Agreement with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office expanding the department from 11 to 17 Deputies. The current Harlan Police Officers would need to apply for the positions.
