(Atlantic) Atlantic School’s Superintendent Steve Barber says a letter was sent to staff and parents on Sunday stating some students received a text stating, “tell everyone to watch out tomorrow (Monday), I will come and shoot up the school at exactly 8:30 a.m. see you then.”
The Atlantic Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office worked Sunday afternoon to determine the text’s credibility. After a full investigation, the text was deemed noncredible, and school officials are confident that staff and students’ safety will not be at risk at no time on Monday.
Superintendent Steve Barber says after working with local law enforcement departments, having a police presence in the mornings at the school building is an excellent cautionary measure.
