(Des Moines) Widespread severe thunderstorms are forecast for Iowa on Friday afternoon, with the primary threat of damaging winds and large hail. Craig Cogil, with the National Weather Service in Des Moines, says this is a multi-faceted spring storm system that will move through northern, Central, and eastern Iowa.
According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms will develop early Friday afternoon and move quickly across the state at around 50 miles per hour. According to the National Weather Service, the highest severe weather threat is east of Interstate 35.
