(Griswold) It’s a small group for the Griswold girls golf team this season.
Linsey Keiser and Joanna Reynolds are the lone participants for the Tigers. Coach Jason Reynolds comments on Keiser. “I think she placed in the conference last year. She has a lot of experience. She’s a hard worker and knows how to practice. It should be a good season.”
Keiser had a nine hole adjusted average of 56.89 last season while Reynolds was at 57.03. “Joanna is fairly new to the game. She took some time off a few years ago, but she is back with us. She’s a sophomore this year. Jo will be working on staying a little more consistent striking the ball, but her chipping and putting is very good. Jo and Linsey practice together almost every day. They are pretty good friends that push each other and are each others biggest fans. A couple of great kids to work with.”
Practice started Monday. “We had a meeting last week. Spring Break cuts right in the middle of golf kickoff, but we couldn’t have practiced much last week anyway.” Reynolds says they’ll be out there this week, “Probably be out on the football field throwing balls all over the joint. It’ll be good. Get these kids outside with their energy and knock off that rust.”
Having a smaller roster will allow for more one on one work with the coaches. “We are ready to go. The low numbers are kind of disappointing a little bit, but those kids are going to get a lot of attention. I really look forward to working with these kids a lot more one on one. It’ll be a fun year.”
On April 3rd they’ll oppose Nodaway Valley and Essex in a triangular at Greenfield Country Club.
