(Birmingham, AL) Iowa couldn’t overcome a 17 point deficit in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Hawkeyes ended their season on Thursday with an 83-75 loss to Auburn.
Iowa fell behind 58-41 midway through the 2nd half before establishing a big comeback bid. A 19-6 stretch over the next five minutes got them back into the game, but they were never closer than within four. Auburn posted 52 points in the 2nd half. The Tigers had six players score in double figures.
Iowa got 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists from Payton Sandfort. Kris Murray posted 15 points and 9 rebounds. Filip Rebraca had 14 points and 7 boards.
