(Iowa City) Despite trailing by 13 points with 1:34 remaining the Iowa Hawkeyes were able to rally and beat Michigan State in overtime. The dramatic comeback resulted in a 112-106 Iowa win.
The game was tied at 42 at halftime and each team scored 59 in the 2nd half. Iowa had the 11-5 overtime advantage to snag a home victory. Kris Murray’s 3-point play with 1:15 left in regulation sparked the impressive rally. Connor McCaffery, Kris Murray, Patrick McCaffery, and Payton Sandfort all made at least one 3-pointer in the final :40.
Murray and Perkins each had big stat lines. Murray’s day included 26 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Perkins notched 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Patyton Sandfort scored 22, Filip Rebraca added 18, and Connor McCaffery 10 points. Iowa went 17/36 (47.2%) from 3-point range.
The 18-11 Hawkeyes will be at Indiana on Tuesday.
