(Harlan) It’s a Class 3A Boys Basketball Substate Semifinal on KSOM Thursday night. Hawkeye Ten foes Harlan and Glenwood get together for a 3rd time this season.
Harlan beat Glenwood 62-57 in Harlan on December 13th. The Rams defended their home floor with a 47-44 victory on January 10th.
Harlan coach Mitch Osborn, following Monday’s win over Lewis Central, said rest would be a priority for his team going into the substate semi’s. “All season long we take almost every Wednesday. I think people can’t believe it, but we do that.” Osborn says, “I think that’s been a hug plus throughout the years. The guys like it and the parents like it. I learned that from coach Curt Bladt.”
Coach Osborn comments on Glenwood. “They are a very balanced scoring team. Obviously they have a great point guard.” Osborn says, “They have a lot of experience. They are very physical. We won at our place, they won at their place, both very tight games. It’s usually a battle.”
The winner plays for a trip to state on Monday. The opponent would be either #1 ranked and undefeated Bondurant-Farrar or 17-6 Clarke.
