(Harlan) Harlan defended their home floor with a 54-43 win over Lewis Central in the first round of boys class 3A postseason play on Monday.
The Cyclones shook off a sluggish start with a 7-0 run at the end of the 1st quarter. A 10-3 close to the first half took them from down three to up five. The home squad wouldn’t trail again. Franz Reisz had 7 quick points in the 2nd quarter and finished with 15 on the night. Teagon Kasperbauer made clutch baskets at the end of the 2nd and 3rd quarters. He also made 5/6 at the line to tally 14 points. Harlan was 10/16 from the line compared to Lewis Central’s 3/4.
The Titans were led by Owen Okerbloom’s 12 points. Nash Paulson scored 10. LC went cold from the perimeter in the 2nd half. They still managed to hang within five points going into the 4th, but were outscored 17-11 in the final frame.
The Cyclones improve to 16-5 on the season. They’ll take a 6-game win streak into Thursday’s substate semifinal against 15-7 Glenwood. Lewis Central closes the season at 10-12.
