(Atlantic) The Atlantic Middle School Mentoring Program started two weeks ago to connect students with the adults in the community. Middle School Principal Scot Aden says thirteen to fourteen Atlantic adults went through a training program, and that is off and running.
Mr. Aden says the mentoring idea came from his former employment at Cherokee Community Schools.
Aden says they want to see the program grow to about 50 adults. Anyone interested in becoming a mentor can contact the Middle School Office at 243-1330. Prospective mentors must fill out an application and must pass a background check. Each mentor and prospective student fill out an interest inventory.
