Kathleen “Kat” Kay Betts 66, of Stuart Iowa passed away in her home surrounded by her family on February 13, 2023.
Kat was born on June 21, 1956, in Greenfield Iowa to Ralph and LaVonne (Avey) Sheeder. Kat attended Casey School and graduated with the class of 1974 from Adair-Casey high school. After graduation Kat married David “Dave” Betts and lived in Casey. Dave and Kat were blessed with 2 children during their time together. Kat and Dave spilt in 1990. Kat started working at Farm Bureau in 1978 were she worked till 2004. After leaving her job of 26 years, Kat moved to California, Alabama and Illinois and worked various jobs over the years of her travels. Kat moved back to Stuart Iowa in 2012. She started working at the Community Care Center in Stuart Iowa with the kitchen staff as a server. She worked there till she retired in 2020. Kat and Dave got back together as partners in 2013 and were together till she passed. Kat enjoyed going to auctions, watching old western shows, going for walks, planting flowers, and driving around to see what has changed in neighboring towns.
Kat is survived by her partner Dave Betts of Stuart, Iowa; children Tracy (Darin) Hall of Denver, North Carolina; Jeremiah “Jay” (Christine) Betts Stuart, Iowa; Brother Ray (Sue) Sheeder of Johnston, Iowa; 2 sisters Gail Sheeder and Debra Sheeder both of Casey, Iowa. Kat had 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She also leaves behind many friends and family members that will miss her. She was proceeded in death by her mother (Grace) LaVonne Sheeder and father Ralph Lloyd Sheeder of Casey Iowa.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life for Kat on March 18, 2023, located at Casey Community Building from 1pm-4pm. She will be laid to rest at Dalmanutha Cemetery North- West of Casey Iowa.
